A few words of praise for Sterling Elementary:
How nice to be flown to Kenai so I didn’t have to make that long drive after finishing at Nordale on Friday.
How nice to be provided with a rental car and a clean, quiet, private place to stay (despite the road crew worker in the adjoining suite who snores like a freight train. . ) I should also mention the kindness of a dinner every night so I don’t have to think about cooking after a long day.
How nice to have teachers and staff who clearly all bought in to the idea of the residency and are excited to have this project happen.
How nice to have interested, funny, and motivated students to work with.
And it only took me three days to figure out why “We show our art skills in the art room” is one of the statements of what “we” do in the school bathrooms.
I’ve got the weekend to recharge my batteries with a trip to Homer and then on to the final week of the last project of the school year. Four schools, ten weeks of work, nineteen mosaics!
