I drove south to Homer in order to walk on the beach, unwind, and rid my mind of the visions of small hands and glass tile. . .
Homer never fails to feed me well, it gives me plenty to look at, it empties my wallet, and I always leave happy yet also with the sense that I am just not hip enough for that town. This Fairbanks girl can’t quite keep up. . . . but a little hit to one’s self image is a small price to pay to walk on the beach and smell the ocean.
As usual, I took my not cool enough self back to work. Tomorrow is a big school and community-wide art show at Sterling Elementary. The PTA ladies have been busy transforming the gym into an amazing place. We’ll have a couple of our tile mosaic ready to show, as well as some of the nicest cut paper pieces I’ve seen done by elementary students.
A couple more days of crazy kids and good fun.
